Rom 15:18:
“18 For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed,”
Many pastors and Christians exaggerate their testimonies. This appears to be very common in the pentecostal church. .
We ought not to use the tools of the devil to do the work of God. The Lord hates lying. Rev 21:8 tells us that liars will end up in the lake of fire. God does not mince words about this.
A pastor in a very large pentecostal church once told us that they were aware that many of the testimonies that their church members give in Sunday worship services are actually untrue.
Lying displeases God, how much more when we stand on His Altar to give false testimonies?
Many do this in order to appear spiritual and be recognised in their churches. This happens because they are living a life of comparison.
The Bible says that those who have this motive or trait are not wise.
2Cor 10:12-13:
“12 For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some
that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themseves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.
We should humble ourselves and focus on pleasing our Lord Jesus Christ by living honest lives, and living true to Him and His Word . This is the only way we can represent Him faithfully in this fallen world.
Beloved child of God, your Lord desires that you focus less on yourself and more on Him. Will you do so?
PRAYERS :
O Lord give me the strength of character and wisdom to humble myself before You and before men
1Pet 5:5:
5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
Lord help me to stop comparing myself to others and to stop competing with them
Jam 3:16:
16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
Jesus help me to focus on You and forsake the praise of men
